A landmark in the village with devoted regulars

This Christopher Square bar has been a fixture of the neighborhood since Stonewall. Don't mind the wagon wheel chandeliers, just grab a seat at the bar and make a new friend. Things can get a little wild on Thursday nights - be sure to be nice to the guy at the grill (and the cuties behind the bar!)

Still the best bar in the city!

This may be the coolest gay bar in NYC. Strong drinks and the best burgers around. Some may call it a dive but how can you not love a bar that looks the same as it did before the Stonewall riot? A little, historical gem with a friendly staff that will share the bar's history if you ask. They welcome all comers including women and straight people. This bar should not be missed.

Burgers are not what they used to be.

The quality of the bar food has fallen tremendously. Bartenders are generally friendly though.

Great Burgers

One of NYs oldest bars, if not the oldest. Older crowd, but they have the best and biggest bar burgers in NY. It's always a must stop when visiting the West Village.

who does he know?

i really enjoy the place usually, but the bartender everyone is talking about has to be the rudest man in the business.(someone has to be)!i've walked out becouse i'd have to wait 10 min. for a drink while he was b.s.ing with his buddies in the corner.mind u, there was only those 5 or 6 of them in the corner!

Not too good unless you're a regular

Unless you’re a regular OR part of the “the group” it’s probably not worth it. Good atmosphere GREAT food! We love the fries & onion rings. Wish it were more of just a hang out place, unfortunately one of the bartenders & his “click” make you feel really out of place if you’re not a regular. We live in the city, yet we’d prefer to go to a different bar.
