The Stonewall Inn

(67 Ratings)
Where it all began

Stop in and check out the landmark bar that basically started the gay rights movement. On June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn. It wasn't the first time, but this time a riot broke out on Christopher Street. The following week of protests around Stonewall sparked a movement for LGBTQ+ Americans. Cross this historic site off your travel bucket list and pay tribute to those who paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights.

weak drinks and dark

I had the weakest Malibu and coke here!! Plus the venue was a too dark! Even sitting there for 45 mins made no difference

always busy

This institution always seems to have something going on. Crowd has gotten sexier than I remember. Service can take awhile if it's a busy night. But fun times to be had. If you are visiting, buy a Stonewall Inn Tshirt to show your pride.

Nothing special - that's the point

Sure, there's the history, but Stonewall is really just a neighbourhood bar with wonderful service and an unpretentious crowd. And we love it just for that.

Upstairs downstairs

Stonewall is always good times. My friends and I all go because Christine is one of the best bartenders in New York. Upstairs, the scene is totally different - there's more space to kick back, relax, or shake your thing.
