The Stonewall Inn

(67 Ratings)
Where it all began

Stop in and check out the landmark bar that basically started the gay rights movement. On June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn. It wasn't the first time, but this time a riot broke out on Christopher Street. The following week of protests around Stonewall sparked a movement for LGBTQ+ Americans. Cross this historic site off your travel bucket list and pay tribute to those who paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights.

Cute, laid back spot no real wow factor

This is a great place to get an early drink, amazing cheap and strong compared to other venues in town. Once liquored up though time to move on ;O)

Gay Historic Site

There was a time when I went to the Stonewall and got a t-shirt as well as a matchbook (which I have framed), but over the years, I think it's changed, and haven't been there in a long time. I liked it, but there are other places I like better.

We've come a long way LGBT ACTIVISTS

I like the STONEWALL INN, and I am proud to have have been a part of the Stonewall riots of June 28, 1969, 46 years ago. The Stonewall has survived the anti-gay and homophobic insults, and it still exists as the home of the brave for all people of the LGBT communities. www.huffingtonpost.com/scott-g-brown

Our Beloved Stonewall

The Stonewall Inn is one of the LGBT community's National Treasures, figuratively and literally. Many claim, Stonewall is where the LGBT movement started with the uprising in 1969. I am a gay entertainer and have performed many times on its stage. I love Stonewall on so many levels. As an artist, as an audience member, for its longevity, and now it has been deemed a National Monument. The first LGBT monument in American History. When visiting NYC, I highly encourage you visit it. Stop in for a drink, play a game of pool, or even catch an amazing show upstairs on the stage. It is part of our heritage, both as a member of the LGBT community and as an American. Tym Moss
