The Monster

(131 Ratings)
A West Village institution

Walk in at street level to the piano bar/lounge which retains its historic charm. Don't let the vintage decor discourage you, pull up a stool and the friendly crowd and fun singers will have you hooked. For a change of pace, work your way downstairs to find drag shows and a dance floor.

Choose your style of bar

Loved the variety at the Monster. In the mood for a singalong? Get yourself piano-side. Prefer to dance it up? Head downstairs. Strong pours and friendly crowd - slightly older, yes, but still a fun night.

Jesse Volt = Amazing

Jesse Volt's show at The Monster needs to be on everyone's gay calendar. She is hysterical. One of my favorite nights of the week.

This is a must visit

The bartenders we met, Mitch and Stravros were the best. They were friendly and entertaining and made out visit to New York City enjoyable. Will definately visit there again.

Something for everyone

Piano bar upstairs and disco downstairs; who could ask for anything more! One of the more upscale places on Christopher Street.
